Working Together

What Sets Old Dominion Recovery Apart

The recovery community has been very fortunate over the years that the treatment and recovery industry has adopted a "many-pathways" approach. This has allowed individuals who may have otherwise fallen through the cracks to develop a recovery lifestyle that suits them. Now that this work is established as an industry standard, Old Dominion Recovery is taking a rare opportunity to return to the 12-step tradition through organic peer support. This ensures a professional exclusively 12-step resource for the recovery community to help alleviate available resources for those seeking a non-12 step path.

Why Choose Old Dominion Recovery?

Many of the individuals I've served have tried other recovery supports in the community and found them wanting, or worse, they were promised a robust recovery community to join in some alternative mutual aid society (SMART, Dharma, etc.) only to discover in-person supports were few and far between.

The reality for the individuals I've served is that when they re-engage the world after leaving "the bubble" that helped them establish their recovery, they're likely to find a thousand 12-step meetings for every one or two alternative support systems. Old Dominion Recovery is here to redirect that disillusionment into constructive energy that can help the individual successfully navigate the 12-step recovery community through organic peer support, networking, and coaching - rather than letting the attempt go to waste.

The 12-step community isn't for everyone, but Old Dominion Recovery is here to help those who've had trouble engaging with it, trouble engaging with other recovery pathways, or have decided they want to concentrate on 12-step exclusively. This does not diminish the viability of other recovery approaches, and I will gladly help you find the appropriate resources for those other approaches - pro bono.

What Old Dominion Recovery Is Not:

  • Paid sponsorship (we will not be engaging in stepwork together)
  • Treatment, therapy, psychiatry, a prescriber, or any other clinical service
  • A recovery residence, sober living, or halfway house (I provide services to complement your home)
  • Reimbursable by insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid
  • Dogmatic in approach
  • A transportation service
  • A panacea

About Me

Personal Recovery Est. 2007

My name is Nick Yacoub and I'm a person in long-term, continuous recovery from substance use challenges. What's most important about that for me is my relationship with God, my family, and my 12-step recovery community.

Dedicated To Professionally Helping Others Recover Since 2013

I've professionally helped others find their recovery pathway in almost every kind of environment you could think of - detoxes, treatments, hospitals, corrections, retreats - while working independently or as part of a team for local governments, non-profits, and for-profits. I've devoted my professional life to service.
